There was a meeting this last week to determine what this year's Pal's n Gals Tournament would be like.
We have not yet set a take-off location nor weigh-in location, but the PnG Tourney will have the following rules:
1. All federation Nation Members in "Good Standing" are invited to fish with the Cedar Rapids Bassmasters. One angler in each boat must be a Federation Nation Member. If he is the boater and has provided his club with proof of insurance, then he is eligible to fish. If a FN Member is bringing a boater who is not a FN member, that boater must show proof of insurance to fish our tournament. The insurance must have coverage for the $$ values that we are all bound to through the Federation Nation State Tournaments. All FN State tournament rules apply to this tournament. This includes, no alcohol consumption during tournament hours, wearing your lifejackets when the big motor is running, ......
2. Entry Fees are $40/boat. CASH ONLY! No CASH, no FISH....that the rule. There are (2) divisions, Guy/Guy teams and Guy/Girl teams. The intent is to bring someone who would like to see what fishing a tournament is like, or introducing someone to the wonderful world of Bass Tournament Fishing.
3. Tournament Hours: July 25th. Registration at 6:30am to7:30am at a location to be announced. Take-off is at 8am. Tournament ends at 2pm and weigh-ins start at 2:15pm , this location will also be announced later.
4. Rules: Every contestant will bring in their heaviest legal Bass. Just one fish per person. Women may bring in their heaviest non-bass legal fish. If it goes in your live well then it has to be legal...(example: you can't bring in a 13" walleye) The tournament payout is 100% (hence the reason for cash). The winning total weight team will receive a Champions Trophy. The Guy/Guy team with the heaviest total weight will win 25% of the cash. The Guy/Girl team with the heaviest total will win 25% of the money. The heaviest bass caught by a guy will win 20% of the money, the heaviest bass caught by a Girl will win 20% of the money. The Heaviest "non-black bass" species legal fish caught by a girl will win 10% of the money. (example...if a Girl catches a 3# crappie and another girl catches a 10# drum, the girl with the drum wins)
5. No Locking. The tournament is out of Pool 10.
6. Cash payouts will happen immediately after the weigh-ins. This is a fun tournament but as the President of the Cedar Rapids Bassmasters, I will play tournament official should there be a need for one. The team with the biggest fish will win the tie breakers (if needed). Ties for Big Bass will go to length and then split the winnings if the length is identical too.
That's it. We will also be organizing a dinner on Saturday night just to cap-off the festivities. We will be taking a head count at our meeting in July as to who is going to make this event and the dinner. If a non-Cedar Rapids member wishes to come have dinner with us, you are also invited. We as a club will be making a reservation for our members, but I will make sure that we have a location/time for this dinner on the website ahead of time , so this restaurant will have the correct number of reservations to accommodate all of us. If you are not a CRBM member, just call the restaurant we post and tell them to add to our party. I will be double checking on this as the dates get closer. We will be discussing the Bill Grove Memorial Tournament and swapping Bill Grove fishing stories at this dinner.
If you are a CRBM Member and you are on the fish committee or the special projects committee, you probably have a job to do for this event. I have a head count of those committee members who will be there, but we will take help from the rest of you CR Bassmasters. I'll let you know what your tasks are at the next meeting.
The Take-Off location for the Pals n Gals Tournament is at the sand beach/pavillion at the Washington Street boat ramp.(across from the city ramp at Prairie)....This is the same location as the Junior State Tournament uses.
